What are LEDs? LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. These are small, solid-state devices that emit light. Originally available in red, now LEDs are available in a variety of colors… bright white being the hardest to produce and therefore the most costly. Unlike halogen bulbs, LEDs run cool so need little ventilation. Unlike incandescent bulbs, the white LEDs used in these light bases are extremely white. LEDs also benefit from a very long life span with bright white LEDs rated from 50,000 to 100,000 hours, and Power LEDs rated from 12,000 to 50,000 hours.
